Our LACE collection is made from the leaves of the Sisal plant, which is known for its aridity and resistence to the intense North eastern Brazilian climate. The leaves contain a fibre, known as the hardest vegetal fibre. In this collection, the fibre’s rigidity is transformed into a delicate embroidered lace by local artisans.
Lagoon
Filé Embroidery tradition is one of the most magnificent Brazilian handicraft. Every handmade item from this collection embodies the skills and knowledge passed down from generation to generation. The name “filé” has its origin from the french word “filet”, meaning net and in fact, it is an embroiment over a net of threads. Threads upon threads that involves a complex processes of execution by artisans from the lagoon region of the Alagoas Region.

LIFE collection is made from Buriti, the most common and abundant palm tree in Brazilian territory. It is known as the “Tree of Life”, because from it everything is profitable. Many rural communities have this palm tree as their main source of income, for them this is their livelihood.

Renaissance art marks a cultural rebirth and our range involves a textile technique, which is traditional to Brazilian handicrafts from the North eastern region. In these delicate lace embroidery items, the thread, needle and lacê (cotton ribbon that joins the wefts) are used to produce elegant placemats. The straw must be collected from the ripened corn cobs, torn in strips and dyed with natural pigments, such as urucum seeds, mate herbs, beetroot and onion skin. These beautiful handwoven crafted pieces results from the work of the country women.

Banana tree is originating from tropical forests. Its fibre harvested from the pseudostems and leaves of the plant has been used for decorative purposes in Brazil since at least the 16th century.
